Montinore Estate & Rudy Marchesi
Rudy Marchesi is the driving force behind Montinore Estate and has been in the Wine Industry for over 40 years. While working in wine distribution, he came across Montinore and began consulting with the vineyard in 1998. In 2005, he became the proprietor.
A love for the land and an appreciation for wine were instilled in Rudy early on by his Italian Grandparents, who had a farm and vineyard in Northern Italy. You’ll see that in addition to the traditional Pinot Noir grown in the Willamette Valley, Rudy also had Teraldego and Lagrein planted in the vineyards.
Rudy came to biodynamics through the wines he had been selling as a distributor. He always found that these were the wines he liked best and as a grower, one of the most important things is to grow and make wines that people will like!
Warm and thoughtful as you speak with him, Rudy believes in this type of farming and set forth to mentor and lead, sharing his knowledge.
Oregon’s Willamette Valley in the Tualatin Hills and Yamhill-Carlton AVAs
The Montinore Estate vineyards are in Oregon’s Willamette Valley. Montinore was named a combination of “Montana and Oregon” by its original owner, John Forbis, a lawyer from Montana. The original Montinore Estate is located in Forest Grove in the Tualatin Hills AVA.
